Sitting down to eat is one of the fundamental rites of our daily life because if at this point we have satisfied our visual sense and we are comfortable, it is time to move on to our sense of taste
Every time I start imagining how I will set out and lay the table, I always think about who I have invited to dinner. I like everyone to feel at home, to feel welcome. I choose menus that resemble those that my grandmother offered on Sunday but with unexpected small combinations and consistencies here and there so as to surprise my guests. I often use highly amusing dedicated place name markers that always change from one dinner to the next. Once I chose some playing cards, another time some little pieces of Lego with different shapes and colours, some ping pong balls, some stamps with initials ... For my dear friend Goi’s birthday I even wrote her name under the tablecloth in Christmas lights [...]
Ogni volta che inizio a immaginarmi come apparecchierò ed allestirò la tavola penso sempre a chi ho invitato a cena.
Mi piace che tutti si sentano a casa, i benvenuti.
Scelgo menù che assomiglino a quelli della domenica dalla nonna, ma con piccole sorprese di abbinamenti e consistenze così da sorprendere qua e là i miei invitati.
Uso spesso segna posto dedicati, molto divertenti, sempre differenti da una cena all’altra.
Una volta ho scelto delle carte da gioco, poi dei pezzettini di Lego di forme e colori differenti, delle palline da ping pong, dei timbrini con le iniziali...
Per il compleanno della mia carissima amica Goi ho addirittura scritto, sotto la tovaglia con delle lucine di Natale, il suo nome [...]
